New start, beginnings, settling in etc etc

So after the long days, late nights, anxiousness, packing and customs strikes in the lead up to leaving, we had a really uneventful departure from Sydney and arrival into Heathrow.
London put on a fabulous show of weather (we'll take credit for bringing it with us from Sydney) for the first four days which made our duty to be tourists quite easy.  We can tick of the to do list: St Paul's Cathedral, Greenwich, Covent Garden, Borough Markets, Canary Wharf, cruising the Thames, the shiny new Westfield at Shepherd's Bush, Tate modern and the Camden markets!
After a few nights at a hotel in Paddington, near Kensington Gardens we made our way to our abode for the next couple of weeks located in Hammersmith.  It's oh so convenient proximity to shops, parks, walking paths and the transport has made it an ideal spot to get ourselves organised and also to get a feel for life in London.
Getting into the spirit of frequenting the pub isn't made too difficult with the overabundance of pubs in London.  Not much of an excuse has been needed either.  For example, what do you do to enjoy the sunshine when it rarely pops its head up?  Find a pub with a nice beer garden.  What do you do when the nights are a bit cooler and nothing is on TV?  Find a cosy pub.  What do you do when you've finished cruising a museum? Relax at a pub.  Where do you go when you want to catch up with friends?  You guessed it-the pub!

Getting jobs is also on our agenda, but all in good time...

  2. The pun was good - getting into the "spirit" of pubs, but I thought it was more about the beer - not spirits - in pubs in the old dart :)

    Love, U.Jules & A. Glennis
