Ski Trip-Tignes, France

16th-23rd December 2011
A combination of the bus being late, missing the ferry at Dover and needing to have snow chains on wheels meant that our already long bus journey turned into a tedious 24 hour ride.  Thank goodness the French Alps turned on the charm by having an enormous quantity of beautiful white powder to greet us when we finally arrived!
This buried car could be proof that there had been more snow in the two week lead up to our visit than in the whole season last year as had been claimed.
What an exhausting but fabulous week it turned out to be!
Danielle learnt to snowboard a little and Julian worked on his previously gained skills on a board.  It was hard not to feel enthused and inspired in our magnificent surroundings and despite four days of constant snowing we still made it out everyday.
Tears, aching mucsles, sore heads and bruised bodies were the side effects of our adventure but thankfully the 'Wellness Centre' just a short distance away was able to revitalise us.  We made the most of the steam room, saunas and spas (Danielle more than Julian though!).
The last two days saw the sun come out  and the snow ceased enough for us to be able to get some great views of the valley and surrounds especially from the great heights of La Grande Motte, almost the highest point of this part of the alps, some 3500m above sea level.
